Credit Union Student Choice Announces New Board Chairperson

Credit Union Student Choice announced that Craig Roy, Senior Vice President of Retail Lending at Digital Federal Credit Union (DCU), has been elected to the role of Chairperson by the organization’s Board of Directors.

“As a credit union service organization built by, and for, credit unions, we’ve been incredibly fortunate to have dynamic industry leaders serve on our Board of Directors,” said Scott Patterson, Credit Union Student Choice President and CEO. “As we enter our 11th year, Craig’s vast experience, forthright approach, and passion for helping members get ahead in life will be extremely valuable in our continued evolution.”

In his role at DCU, Roy is responsible for growing and managing a $10+ billion sold and serviced mortgage and consumer loan portfolio, and oversees Consumer and Mortgage Lending, Collections/Loss Prevention, and Facilities Management Departments. He has served as a Student Choice board member since 2013 while also serving on the boards of DCU for Kids Charitable Foundation and DCU Realty.

“We are all well aware of the financial challenges faced by students and families as they work to achieve their higher education dreams,” said Roy. “In partnership with Student Choice, DCU launched our education lending solutions in 2008 and to date we’ve helped nearly 5,000 students and families responsibly afford college. I fully understand the importance of offering tangible support to members during this critically important phase of life, and I look forward to helping Student Choice continue building solutions that will empower both members and credit unions.”

Roy succeeds Brian Ducharme, who recently retired from his role as President and CEO of MIT Federal Credit Union. “Brian’s thoughtful approach to governance and strategic planning, while perfectly balancing member, credit union, and owner interests, has been critically important to our successes and continued evolution,” said Patterson. “We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”
