Student Choice Wraps Up “Lend Your Voice” Campaign, Awards Outreach Funds to Five Credit Unions

Credit Union Student Choice recently finalized its fourth annual “Lend Your Voice” campaign, which invites Student Choice borrowers to share how an education loan from their credit union has impacted their lives. Nearly 75 borrowers have shared their inspiring stories over the past four years, all of which can be viewed at

“These borrower stories reinforce that, when done responsibly, a student loan can be one of the most life-empowering loans a credit union can make,” said Michael Weber, Chief Marketing Officer of Credit Union Student Choice. “We have heard from first-generation college attendees, non-traditional students, and graduates who are doing amazing, meaningful work in their communities. The common thread throughout the stories is that these individuals would not have been able to attain their dreams of higher education without the help and ongoing support they’ve received from their credit union.”

Additionally, Student Choice made donations to the five credit unions whose members contributed the most stories during the campaign. The winning credit unions are encouraged to use these funds in support of youth financial literacy efforts or scholarship programs. This year’s recipients are:

  • 1st place ($2,500): KEMBA Financial Credit Union (Gahanna, OH)
  • 2nd place ($2,000): Directions Credit Union (Sylvania, OH)
  • 3rd place ($1,500): UMassFive College Credit Union (Hadley, MA)
  • 4th place ($1,000): Northern Federal Credit Union (Watertown, NY)
  • 5th place ($500): ARC Federal Credit Union (Altoona, PA)

“We were so excited to learn that we would be the recipients of one of the awards for Lend Your Voice this year,” said Karen Hack, Director of Marketing for Directions Credit Union. “Our community involvement team will be able to utilize the funds for educating local students, and we were thrilled to hear what our members had to say about their experience with Directions and Student Choice.”
