Obama Administration Releases “College Scorecard”

During President Obama’s State of the Union address, the President made several notable comments about higher education, stressing the importance of “affordability” and “value” when it comes to choosing a college. In order to help students and parents compare schools and “get the most bang for your educational buck”, the President also announced that his Administration would release a new “College Scorecard”.

The Scorecard uses several criteria, such as location, type of college, and area of interest, to help students determine schools that may be a good fit for their needs. School-specific search results also provide helpful information such as typical costs, graduation rate, and median borrowing. The U.S. Department of Education is also working to eventually include information about the average earnings of former undergraduate students for each school – extremely powerful data in today’s challenging economy!

More than ever before, higher education must be viewed as an investment, and decisions should be made accordingly. The College Scorecard can be another helpful tool for students and parents in making good choices.  Click here to check it out!
