  • U.S. citizens or permanent residents
  • At least the age of majority in your state of residence. Please note, in most states, you must be at least 18 years old. You must be 19 years old in Alabama. You must be 21 years old in Mississippi and Puerto Rico. If you are not the age of majority in your state you may qualify with a co-applicant who is or other unique circumstance that would allow you to qualify.
  • Continually enrolled in a degree-granting program and meeting the school’s minimum Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) criteria.
    Should you withdraw during any term or fail to meet SAP requirements, your funding request can be denied, your line of credit may close, and you may enter repayment.

    • For fall and spring terms, you must be enrolled at least half-time.
    • For summer term, you may be enrolled less than half-time.
  • Attending an approved school or institution. You can view eligible schools in our application before applying. Eligible schools are subject to change without notice.
  • Able to meet the credit union’s standard underwriting criteria (a co-applicant may be necessary in order for you to meet credit criteria, and may also help you qualify for a lower rate)
  • Eligible for credit union membership (you may apply without being a member of the credit union, but you will need to become a member in order for the loan to be funded)

The borrower and co-applicant (if applicable) must be a member of the credit union. To expedite funding, visit your credit union branch or website to open your membership account while we are processing your loan.

Repayment Types offered: 

  • Deferred: Make no payments until school and residency (if applicable) is completed. Will incur the most interest over time.
  • Interest-only: Pay just the interest while in school and residency (if applicable). Will incur less interest over time.
  • Immediate: Begin interest and principal payments immediately. Will incur the least interest over time.
  • Fixed: Pay a fixed amount as set by the lender during school and residency (if applicable). May pay down the loan and incur less interest over time.

Repayment Terms offered: 5, 7, 10, 15, 20, or 25 years

As a returning borrower with an existing line-of-credit, you do NOT need to complete an entirely new application to request additional funds. Simply request additional funds from your existing line-of-credit. Your school will certify the requested loan amount with the credit union.
